Guidance

DuPont Tyler Middle School's Guidance Office believes in giving children every opportunity possible to succeed, both academically and socially.  Our office is committed to serving each student over the course of their middle school career.  Each year we will loop with the students as they move from grade to grade in order to develop relationships with the students and the parents.

In our efforts to support student needs, we reach out in various ways.  We conduct classroom guidance lessons throughout the year.  These lessons may focus on suicide prevention, self-esteem building, learning abou empathy and respect, responsiblity, and our anti-bullying campaign, with a "Bully Box" being provided in the Media Center for students that feel they are the victim of a bullying incident.  We offer individual, one-on-one counseling with students who demonstrate the greatest needs.  We are also available throughout the day for any student who needs extra guidance.  Additionally, we offer small group counseling experiences throughout the year.

If a student has special needs, we are committed to finding them the appropriate resources.  We will work closely with teacher, administrators, and parents to ensure each student's success.
