Mrs. Melissa Raines, Library Information Specialist
After graduating from Freed-Hardman University in Henderson, Tennessee, I moved to Nashville to begin my teaching career. I taught 7th grade science for 10 years at Wright Middle School in South Nashville. During this time, I decided to further my education and entered the master's program at Trevecca Nazarene University. Upon completion of my M.L.S., I came to DuPont Tyler Middle School as the Information Specialist. This is my 18th year in MNPS and my eighth year as a LIS.
My years at DuPont Tyler have been a great experience in my career. I truly believe that the Media Center program makes a positive impact on the lives of our children. My goal is that the program will continue to grow and bring life long learning and a love of reading to students.
I have a daughter in the 9th grade (attended all middel grades at DTMS!) and a son in the 6th grade. In my leisure time, I enjoy watching my children’s sporting events, traveling in and outside the U.S., going to the movies, and listening to 80s music. Of course, I love to read novels, both fiction and biographies of interesting people. My favorite author is Nicholas Sparks. I also enjoy reading periodicals on pop culture.
