Literacy Coaches were placed in all of the Metro Nashville middle schools to ensure a quality literacy experience for every middle school student. The Literacy Coach, Mrs. Perkins at Dupont-Tyler, will support our Reading and Language Arts teachers through modeling, team-teaching, collaborative planning, and providing constructive feedback. She is also training teachers to use the Comprehensive Literacy Approach to teaching Reading within their classrooms. She will be promoting a more reflective, collaborative, and professional culture among the faculty through her website and encouraging networking among the teachers. As the Literacy Coach Mrs. Perkins will be working with some small groups of students to better enhance their comprehension, learning strategies, and reading skills.
